United Airlines Dulles Airport Federal Inspections Services by RDK Engineers

United Airlines Dulles Airport Federal Inspections Services

RDK Engineers teamed with Giuliani Associates Architects to perform a complete renovation of the existing United Airlines Federal Inspections Services facility at Dulles International Airport. The design team’s main focus was reducing congestion and increasing throughput for the nation’s fifth largest international airport.

Engineering services for the FIS Phase one renovations included increased security check point area, relocation of electrical panels, demolition of conveyor power, power to new security check point devices, demolition of power to automatic doors and demolition of the locker room area and creation of a new locker room. RDK was able to complete this fast tracked design-bid-build project under budget and ahead of schedule all while fully maintaining operations of the existing facility. The redesign resulted in a more comfortable environment for passengers and better working conditions for employees.
