Wall Experiment StationWall Experiment Station performs thousands of tests and lab analyses on Massachusetts’ drinking water to identify potential contaminants in water, wastewater, air, soil, hazardous wastes, fish, and other samples. In addition, the lab is responsible for regularly monitoring the air quality throughout the state. The research performed at Wall Experiment Station is critical for ensuring public health safety. When the Station decided to modernize its facility, RDK provided the development of a program for renovating the laboratory and office space, and performed a comprehensive evaluation of the existing MEP/FP systems for outlining options for upgrading / replacing the systems. Teaming with Perkins + Will Architects, RDK provided the full MEP/FP design for the renovation and expansion project. On this DCAM-managed, LEED Gold, laboratory project, RDK is proud to have been on the design team for helping create one of the greenest research laboratories in the Commonwealth, work which included investigation and analyses on numerous sustainable design options, including the incorporation of 300 photovoltaic panels on the existing building. As Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary, Ian Bowles noted at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony: "The Wall Experiment Station has a long history of excellence and innovation as an environmental laboratory, and in its new incarnation it will be a model building.” |
