Bayer Diagnostic Research & Development Lab

Bayer Diagnostic Research & Development Lab

Converting an existing office building into a 100,000 SF state-of-the art biomedical testing facility is a complex task in the best of circumstances. Doing so within the extremely aggressive timeframe required to meet Bayer's Diagnostic's move-in date presented a significant additional challenge on this project. RDK designed and monitored construction of all building systems for the new facility, which contains 20,000 square feet of biosafety level II laboratories, as well as administrative offices, conference rooms, training facilities, and a cafeteria, within Bayer's demanding nine month schedule. Also on the design team were Margulies Perruzzi Architects and Columbia Construction.

Meeting the schedule would not have been possible without constant vigilance to every detail throughout the project. The entire design team knew exactly what every team member was doing and needed to do every day, and all worked in concert to keep the work moving forward and on schedule. RDK’s leadership fostered an environment in which the project’s contractors, engineers, architects and client formed a seamless collaboration, absolutely vital to completing such a complex facility within so demanding a schedule.
