First Marblehead Disaster Recovery CenterFirst Marblehead Corporation, one of the nation’s largest private education lending service providers, experienced tremendous growth in staff and loan performance data and recognized that they needed to expand their physical space and technological capacity significantly and quickly. RDK was hired as the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineer to assist in the expansion at existing and new facilities, which totaled over 200,000 square feet. RDK’s work included a complex extension of the electrical distribution systems, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the existing branch circuitry. Also, the design of new chilled water and environmental control systems allowed the critical data center and IDF closets (which are essential to First Marblehead’s business) to function properly. The space, including high-end offices, call centers, and mission critical data centers, was the first job of this magnitude for First Marblehead. As a result, there were some unresolved questions regarding product and vendor selection which the RDK project team helped them address. The open communication between First Marblehead and RDK allowed everyone to work together and build trust in each other. This successful partnership continued, allowing RDK to serve as the on-call team for future endeavors, such as the 29th floor of the Prudential Tower in Boston. |
