The Mandarin Oriental, Boston is a mixed-use project opening in Boston's historic Back Bay in the summer of 2008. The project's two towers contain the Mandarin Oriental, Boston hotel and signature spa, luxurious residences, restaurants, and high-end retail. Numerous cutting-edge energy-efficient technologies were evaluated by RDK as MEP/FP/T engineer on the project. They included geothermal heating and HANSA induction chilled ceilings, as well as an innovative integrated DDC system using PDA technology. Maximum flexibility was build into the building systems infrastructure to accommodate different types of heating and cooling preferences and kitchen and bathroom layouts in the multi-million dollar condominiums.
