The 220-ft-tall Kaiser Aluminum Tower, a vacant eyesore on Portsmouth, RI's beautiful Aquidneck Island since the 1980's, is being transformed into a striking new luxury waterfront residential complex, as part of the 15-acre planned development of the private Carnegie Abbey golf club. The redeveloped 17 story tower will include 59 luxury condominium units, each with a private entrance off a central elevator. The complex also includes a library and a variety of recreational facilities. RDK's designs for the building include entirely new MEP/FP infrastructure, since the existing structure, originally built for aluminum cable processing, was completely gutted. RDK is also designing a new boiler/chiller plant for the complex which will be situated apart from the residential tower.
