Boott Cotton Mills Waterfront Lofts
Lowell, MA

Boott Cotton Mill in Lowell, MA is a 19th century brick mill complex listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The 500,000 SF, multiple-building property has been undergoing phased redevelopment into a vibrant mixed use complex, partially occupied by an  industrial history museum managed by the National Park Service, and the rest devoted to Class A office/industrial and residential use.

RDK has designed MEP/FP systems for several phases of the adaptive reuse of the West Mill, the largest redevelopment parcel on the site, which contains three buildings totaling 200,000 SF. Most recently, RDK designed systems for phased conversion of the top floors of the two 6-story West Mill buildings, and the entire adjacent 4-story building, into loft style luxury condominiums with waterfront views. The complex will eventually contain 106 units in four different configurations totaling over 125,000 SF.

RDK's work at Boott Mills has also involved fit-up of commercial  space in the West Mill, and design of specialized systems for industrial clean rooms and labs in the South Mill.
