Wing Memorial Hospital's new $23 million, 58,000 SF addition includes a number of much-needed state-of-the-art facilities for this busy community hospital, including 3 new operating rooms; 6 intensive care unit rooms equipped with a telemedicine system that connects patients with critical care specialists via computer-assisted surveillance; a new endoscopy suite; 30 in-patient rooms with modern amenities such as wireless internet; and expanded registration, admissions, and gift shop facilities. RDK designed building systems for the new facilities, which were planned based on results of an extensive facilities master plan in which RDK also participated. During the master planning phase, RDK completed an evaluation of the existing facility's infrastructure, which revealed that it was more cost-effective to construct the new addition than it would be to renovate the existing hospital building.
