RDK Engineers designed mechanical and electrical systems for a new $20 million replacement Central Utility Plant to serve this 500,000 SF Regional Medical Center, with the capacity to handle planned expansion of the complex to 850,000 SF by 2012. The 21,000 SF CUP, which provides chilled water, steam, and normal and standby power for the growing facility, was completed under a design-build, fast-track format. It is designed to deliver 3,000 tons of cooling capacity; 1,950 hp boiler capacity; and 4 MW of stand-by/emergency power, with the potential for an additional 2 MW of cogeneration.
