Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital (MWRH), a full-service healthcare facility serving 22 surrounding communities, recently undertook a $45 million expansion/renovation, the largest in its history. RDK assisted MWRH in evaluating potential options and costs to provide the needed facilities, based on the capabilities of the existing hospital's infrastructure, and building systems requirements for new, state-of-the art space and technology. The selected alternative involved two-phased construction of 85,000 SF of new space and renovations, including addition of two new wings. RDK completed designs for a wide variety of facilities for the project, including eight new operating rooms, a new PACU, a new Maternity Center, newborn nursery, laboratory expansions, administrative offices, and a new kitchen and cafeteria. Major upgrades were also required to the hospital's central plant to support the significant expansion.
