Nixon Peabody's offices total over 167,000 SF of "Class A" space on floors 23-27 of 100 Summer Street in Boston. RDK designed MEP/FP/T systems for fit-up of the offices, which contains a number of specialized facilities.
A 150-person conference facility on the 25th floor, for example, features state-of-the-art videoconferencing and other collaboration systems. Acoustics, aesthetics, light, and temperature control were important considerations in the design of systems for the space, requiring intensive collaboration with the project architects. A full service kitchen and cafe are also located on this floor. A "grand" stairwell was constructed to connect the conference floor with the reception area on the 26th floor, necessitating extensive re-routing of existing building systems as well as design of new systems.
Tel/data systems designed by RDK for the offices included voice and data components throughout the entire space, as well as a data center with a centralized UPS system and humidity control.
The project was completed on an aggressive schedule to accommodate Nixon Peabody's required move-in date.
