Emmanuel College's new Jean Yawkey Student Center is a modern multi-purpose facility designed to serve as a gathering place for the entire Emmanuel College community. The 103,000 SF building, which is connected to the existing Marion Hall, features a glass atrium, student and community meeting rooms, a food court, recreational and fitness spaces and a new gymnasium.
The gymnasium, with a seating capacity of 2500, also serves as the largest meeting room on the campus. Under the gymnasium is a 100-vehicle parking garage.
RDK was responsible for design of all MEP/FP and telecommunications systems for the project, including a new central heating plant and automatic sprinklers. Work on upgrades to the existing building and the new addition was phased to minimize disruption of school activities.
