Cape Cod Community College Technology Building
West Barnstable, MA

The new Lyndon P. Lorusso Applied Technology Center was designed to be not only a state-of-the art information technology facility, but also a model of environmental sustainability. The 24,000 SF building contains 3 floors of networked classrooms, computer laboratories, faculty offices and student meeting spaces. As MEP/FP engineers on the project, RDK worked with the design team to identify a variety of environmentally-conscious, high efficiency building systems technologies for potential incorporation into the facility's design, including use of fuel cells, microturbines, wind power or photovoltaic systems for electrical generation; CO2 ventilation control; and daylighting. The LEED Gold project was the first building constructed with Massachusetts state funding to receive LEED certification and also received a Massachusetts DCAM Programming Excellence Award.
