RDK was retained by Harvard Business School to provide commissioning services for renovation and expansion of the School's historic Baker Library/Academic Center. The building, which will total 160,000 SF, contains one of the world's largest business libraries, as well as faculty and staff offices, common spaces, and reading rooms. Because many of the library's documents are priceless and irreplaceable, proper functioning of all building systems is critical. Stringent environmental control, particularly control of temperature and humidity, is vital in portions of the building housing the School's collection of rare books and periodicals. A desiccant wheel dehumidification system controlled by the facility's DDC Building Automation System is among the specialized environmental systems commissioned by RDK.
