TF Green Airport Security Systems Improvements
Warwick, RI
T.F. Green Airport in Rhode Island is one of nation's the fastest growing regional airports. In the three years since the Sept. 11 attacks, T.F. Green's passenger traffic has grown over 30%, making enhancement of the airport's security systems of increasing importance. RDK served as MEP/FP engineer on the design team responsible for evaluating alternatives and developing final designs for improving security checkpoints and baggage handling systems at T.F. Green. The airport's goals for the project were to provide greater security while minimizing delays and increasing  capacity  to meet future demands. The security system selected features a state-of-the-art in-line explosive detection system (EDS) for checked baggage screening, one of the key recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, at the airport's 19-gate terminal. RDK designed building systems for over 85,000 SF of new space and 34,000 SF of required renovations for the project.

RDK has also completed designs for security system enhancements at a number other airports, including Dulles International Airport, Reagan National Airport, LaGuardia Airport, and Logan International Airport.
