To accommodate a planned expansion of their commuter jet service at Dulles International Airport, United Airlines needed to construct 21,000 SF of new structures and additions to their existing facility on a very tight six month schedule. RDK provided HVAC, plumbing, fire alarm, sprinkler, lighting and electrical distribution, communications and security system designs for the $15,000,000 project, which included airline operation spaces, bus stations, concessions, and passenger facilities. Biddable designs had to be completed in eight weeks. Equipment and systems specified had to be able to be delivered and installed within the deadline without exceeding the project budget. The exacting constraints were not only met, but exceeded: UAL's new regional jet facility was completed on budget, and opened a month ahead of its aggressive schedule.
