Southern New Hampshire Medical Center Addition
Nashua, NH
Use of Southern New Hampshire Medical Center's (SNHMC's) emergency facilities has more than doubled since 1971, making it one of the busiest ER's in the state. To accommodate the increasing demand, the hospital  broke ground in 2004 on construction of a new $17 million, 4-story wing, adding 22,000 SF of much-needed space. RDK provided MEP/FP systems design for the addition, which houses expanded ER facilities on the ground floor, connecting to the existing ER. The two floors above contain a new Cardiovascular Lab and Services unit, future operating suites and PACU, and additional gynecology and psychology rooms. Following construction of the new ER, the existing ER facilities were moved into the new space, and the existing ER renovated to state-of-the-art standards. RDK also designed a new chiller plant and air handling systems to meet the current and anticipated future needs of the growing hospital.
