RDK designed MEP/FP systems for fit up of nearly 55,000 SF of office space for Mercer Management, located on floors 11, 12, 34, 35, & 36 in the John Hancock Tower in Boston. Floors 11 & 12, which contain the firm's reception and main conference areas as well as open and closed offices, required complete replacement of the original 30-year old building systems. The office areas in the newly-renovated space feature an unusual up-lighting design, with fixtures located on cubicle partitions rather than in the ceiling. Extensive coordination with the space contractor was necessary to implement the lighting scheme, which provides user-friendly, glare-free indirect lighting for cubicle occupants. The offices also contain a large conference facility with state-of-the-art lighting and audio-visual system controls, which can be sub-divided into three smaller conference rooms.
