RDK designed building systems for complete renovation/expansion of Arnold Worldwide’s Boston Headquarters on 8 floors of the 101 Huntington Ave. office tower. As part of the expansion, a new connecting stairway was constructed between the main reception area on the 19th floor and the 20th floor, which required relocation of the existing MEP systems. Work also involved design of systems for a number of specialized facilities, including computer rooms, a “video wall lounge” and a state-of-the-art Conference Center with cutting-edge audio-visual systems. Creative interfaces with, or modifications to, the base building systems were necessary for several spaces. For example, to accommodate a giant new video screen in the 101 Huntington Building Lobby that displays Arnold videos continuously, RDK developed an electrical system design that taps into the base building’s power, but is metered to Arnold’s space. Much of the work for fit-out of the newly-renovated headquarters was completed on a fast-track basis and involved extensive coordination with Arnold staff, the project architects, and subconsultants for specialty systems required for Arnold’s creative and technology-intensive international operations.
