The J.W. McCormack Post Office and Courthouse is an historic 22-story building constructed in 1931. The 680,000 GSF complex is being converted from its former use as a federal court into modern offices that will serve as headquarters for U.S. EPA Region 1. Because EPA desires that their new facility attain U.S. Green Building Council LEED
Silver certification, a comprehensive understanding of LEED
criteria and sustainable design experience were key considerations in selection of the A/E team retained to undertake the extensive renovations required.
As part of the Goody Clancy Associates team selected for the $96M project, RDK is responsible for commissioning all mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems for the building, and also for commissioning of a number of "Green" features. RDK's commissioning activities were begun at the inception of the design phase and may ultimately include Commissioning of Facility Management.
