Konarka Technologies develops products that use proprietary, cutting edge technology for conversion of light to energy for a variety of applications. RDK designed MEP/FP systems for adaptive re-use of space in the historic Boott Cotton Mills in Lowell, MA, originally constructed in the 19th century, as U.S. headquarters for the firm. The facilities for which RDK designed building systems include wet research and development laboratories and clean manufacturing areas as well as corporate offices. Fit-up of the clean rooms and laboratories necessitated a number of specialized systems, such as multiple process fume hoods, and also required stringent temperature and humidity controls.
