The King's Grant Inn, a local landmark that hosted hundreds of weddings, proms, conferences and Rotary luncheons as well as thousands of travelers for nearly 50 years, has been remarkably transformed into a state-of-the-art 110,000 SF R&D facility that today serves as headquarters for Cell Signaling Technology. The biotech firm, which specializes in development of antibodies used by academic and clinical research scientists, acquired the property to accommodate its rapid growth. RDK was retained to commission the extensive renovations and systems upgrades required to convert the old hotel into a modern sci-tech facility now housing what Cell Signaling characterizes as a cross between a biotech business and a research university. The new facility contains 66 laboratories for product development, research, and new technology development, as well as a 125-person multimedia meeting room, a cafeteria and corporate offices.
