Concord Town House by RDK Engineers

Concord Historic Town House

Built over 100 years ago, the 17,000 square foot, brick-framed Concord Town House is a registered historical property.  Since its original construction it has only undergone minor renovations.  Although the building was equipped with a fire alarm system, the components were over 30 years old, and the system was not up to code. The Town also wanted to sprinkler the building to ensure a more comprehensive fire protection system.

RDK conducted a thorough investigation of the existing building and provided engineering and design services for the installation of code-compliant fire protection and fire alarm systems.  To ensure protection of the building during the renovation, the existing fire alarm system was maintained and kept activated until the new system was tested and approved by the Concord Fire Department.  The new fire protection system is a combination of a wet and dry system. The design team coordinated with the Town, Fire Department and the Historical Society to make sure the historic aesthetics were all maintained.
