Washington Mall BermudaBermuda is home to numerous insurance companies because of their lack of corporate income tax. Due to this growing demographic, the owner of the Washington Mall came up with the idea to create a different type of building on the island where people could live and work in the same location. To realize this goal, the existing buildings of the Washington Mall were demolished and a new 180,000 square foot mixed-use complex with retail stores, restaurants, commercial office space, and residential condominiums was built in their place. RDK’s familiarity with Bermuda helped in designing a geothermal seawater system for heating and cooling the buildings. This assisted in cutting down on the facilitiy electricity costs which are three and a half times higher than electricity costs in the United States. RDK was proud to be part of the team that created this kind of comfortable, inviting space for the people of Bermuda and their guests to enjoy. |
