Large Insurance Company Corporate Office Building (LEED GOLD)

The latest addition to this large insurance company’s 224-acre corporate campus in Dover, New Hampshire is the 352,000 square foot four-story building designed to house the company’s IT group who were being consolidated from two separate locations into one building.

The LEED Gold building was designed to have a main lobby that separates two wings of the building and an Underfloor Air Distribution System (UFAD) in over 80% of the facility, making it easier to change the layout of furniture in the space in the future, providing better indoor air quality for employees, and consuming less energy helping to cutting costs for the company. As the engineer on the Gorman Richardson Lewis Architects project team, RDK was responsible for the MEP/FP engineering for the shell and core and interior fit-up of the building. RDK designed with sustainability in mind, including use of high-efficiency-condensing boilers, hot water radiant panel heating system, radiant slab heating in the lobby area, and low pressure duct work distribution systems that lowered building operating costs, and saved 2,354 tons of carbon dioxide.
