RALEIGH, NC (NOVEMBER 1, 2010) - RDK Engineers (RDK) has joined forces with BJAC Architects and Duke Realty Construction to begin work on a new medical office building in Holly Springs, NC for Rex Healthcare. RDK will provide Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Tel Data, and Fire Protection engineering services for the project.

This is an exciting and important project for the t o wn of Holly Springs and the surrounding Wake and Hartnett counties. This new medical facility provides a convenient, local option for those in need of healthcare services and will include urgent care, clinical laboratory and radiology services, including Family Practice, Heart and Vascular, and Pediatrics. The design/build team also allotted space for potential future expansion.

In addition to providing MEP/FP/T services, RDK will also incorporate several energy-efficient technologies which will support critical equipment for the facility. Some of these include the use of fluorescent lights, which mo n i tor natural light and occupancy, low-temperature discharging air systems, and plumbing systems that will save 20 percent of baseline water. The building will be submitted for LEED Certification through the United States Green Building Council.

“We are looking forward to working with BJAC and Duke Realty on this new medical facility which will provide important medical care and services to the citizens of Holly Springs and beyond,” said Jason Lund, RDK Project Manager. “As we continue or work on this project, we will consider how our engineering systems will affect those who occupy the building and ensure our designs meet the needs of all doctors and patients.”
