Wake Technical Community College Technology Education BuildingRDK Engineers worked closely with the staff at Wake Technical Community College in order to bring their Technology Education Building into the 21st Century. The RDK Team worked to accommodate and encourage interdisciplinary approaches to make the spaces more adaptable for future use. The design of the 45,000 square foot building focused on energy-saving techniques and sustainable design elements. RDK incorporated power upgrades to the existing building, replaced the exhausted air-handling units with more efficient options, substituted the existing lighting with fluorescents, added occupancy sensors to all lighting, improved the life safety systems and updated the aged data systems. By renovating laboratories, offices, classrooms and the auditorium, RDK was able to enhance the learning experience of all the current and future students of Wake Technical Community College. |
