North Andover High School Commissioning Project by RDK Engineering

North Andover High School Commissioning

North Andover High School was ready for a change, and the Commissioning Team at RDK Engineers was ready to make sure all the changes they made met the original design intent and overall goals of the school building committee. The newly built 294,000 square foot North Andover High School contains more than 70 classrooms, administrative offices, an 800+ seat auditorium, full cafeteria with a snack bar and canteen area, distance learning labs, TV and radio station.  It has some of the most technologically advanced systems of any building in North Andover, which is why the town commissioned RDK to assess and ensure the building’s long term performance.

As part of this project, RDK also developed a proactive Computerized Maintenance and Management System (CMMS) featuring web-based maintenance management software that RDK competitively bid and purchased for the town. The CMMS includes a central database of all equipment which was bar-coded.  Bar-coding technology allows facilities personnel to work more efficiently and cost- effectively using handheld computers. RDK was honored to be part of the team that checked the functional performance of the buildings' HVAC, emergency power, plumbing and other critical areas.  They also ensured the outstanding performance of a very sophisticated energy recovery system for the school.
