Harvard University Blackstone UOS Commissioning (LEED PLATINUM)Sometimes the most challenging part of a commissioning project is to find a way to make sure that the people who reside in a building will get used to the new environmental conditions they will have once a renovation has been completed. Such was the case in the project RDK Engineers worked on at the Harvard University Operations Services (UOS) building
The project involved the conversion/renovation of three 100-year-old industrial buildings, totaling approximately 43,000 square feet of space to serve as offices for the UOS team. One of the buildings serves as the main data center for the UOS’s functions, designed with critical systems for its 24/7 operation. Commissioning activities commenced at the start of the design phase and continued through close-out of the project.
Originally, this project was designed to achieve a LEED Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council; however, Harvard ultimately surpassed this goal by earning a LEED-Certified Platinum rating, serving as a model of cost effective environmental sustainability.
