Central Carolina Community College Academic Building RDK Engineers, along with Hobbs Architects, helped bring the first LEED building to life at Central Carolina Community College’s Siler City campus. RDK provided MEP and telecommunications systems design services for the two-story 24,000 square foot building including classrooms, laboratories, occupational shops and administrative offices. Because this building is the first LEED building for Central Carolina Community College, RDK placed its design focus on incorporating all aspects of sustainable design.The lighting system utilizes a day-lighting control system and occupancy sensors. All lighting for the project complies with IES standards, LEED criteria, and Green Globe Criteria. The lighting, HVAC, outdoor air and specialty exhaust systems are all designed to maximize energy efficiency and user comfort. This cutting-edge, green facility provides Community College students with the ability to have continuing education and job placement skills. |
